Eligibility: An applicant must be of recent Italian ancestry and a 2008 graduate of a

Utah High School

Criteria: The scholarship is awarded based on American College Testing (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) college entrance exams (30%), exceptional high school academic ability (30%), and extracurricular (school, community, church, service, work related) activity involvement (20%), Italian heritage and involvement with an Italian Cultural Organization (20%).

To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must be admitted as a matriculated (degree seeking) student by the applicant’s chosen institute of higher education.

Requirements:

1. Completed application form. See attached form for details.

2. Official transcript with copy of ACT or SAT scores.

3. Outline of extracurricular activities.

4. Summary of future educational goals.

5. A personal essay: (300 words or less) essay describing applicant’s Italian ancestry and how this ancestry has influenced their life.

Award: The scholarship is paid directly to the successful candidate.

Other Conditions:

Upon scholarship acceptance, the recipient to submit a recent

Photograph and a short biography.

Both items will be published in the All State Italian Day booklet.

Scholarships are awarded by both Men’s and Women’s Chapters of the Italian American Civic League.

You are encouraged to apply for each chapter’s scholarship. However, one recipient may not receive both scholarships.

The Scholarship Awards Committee selects the recipient.
